These are the Best Family Activities in Turks and Caicos
The pleasant conditions, safe environment and abundant fun activities make Turks and Caicos a great, kid-friendly destination. If you’re looking for an exciting tropical destination for your next family vacation, then Providenciales in Turks and Caicos should be at the top of your list.
Between the long stretches of white-sand beaches to play at and the many adventurous boat and land excursions, you’re sure to have a fantastic time with your kids at this tropical paradise. Here are the top five kid-friendly things to do on your Turks and Caicos family vacation.
1) Hang Out at Grace Bay Beach
Grace Bay Beach is the most popular beach in Providenciales, and it has a reputation of being one of the best beaches in the world. One step onto the postcard-perfect sands at Grace Bay will show you why. The waters here are refreshing, shallow, and crystal clear. Ideal for a family beach day!
Most other beaches on Provo will also make for a great beach day, and there are unique things to do at each one. If you’re traveling with older teens, then you may want to try out kiteboarding at Long Bay Beach nearby our villas and suites. The large stretches of shallow waters make Long Bay Beach the perfect spot to learn the sport.
2) Snorkel at Bight Reef
Turks and Caicos is famous for it’s incredibly clear waters, which makes it ideal for snorkeling. Your kids will love donning a mask, snorkel and fins to explore the local underwater marvels.
Bight Reef (aka Coral Gardens) is one of the best places to snorkel around Provo. The corals there are vibrant, and there is plentiful marine life to observe swimming at the reef. You’ll see many small colorful fish, sea turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, and possibly some small nurse sharks if you’re lucky.
There are other good snorkeling spots around that you can check out at Visit TCI, but Bight Reef is the best option for snorkeling with kids.
4) Horseback Riding on the Beach
Riding on horseback is a thrilling kid-friendly activity in normal circumstances, but it’s far more exciting when you can do it at the beach. Trotting across the sand and through the shallow waters is a moment that you and your family will cherish forever.
For many years, Provo Ponies has been the go-to place for booking beach horseback riding tours in Turks and Caicos. Their Group Ride Tour is a great option for families with children aged seven and up.
5) Explore Chalk Sound National Park
Chalk Sound National Park is a gorgeous lagoon at the southwest end of Providenciales. Here you’ll find hundreds of little islands dotting the turquoise horizon, making for a glorious view to enjoy from the beach or out on the water. Much of the lagoon is also only a few feet deep, and features gloriously clear waters.
Due to its status at a natural park, Chalk Sound prohibits the uses of powered watercraft. This makes it ideal for fun and tranquil family activities like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. From these crafts you can observe a plethora of exciting marine life such as barracudas, stingrays, and small lemon sharks. You can also find Turks and Caicos Rock Iguanas scatted across Chalk Sound
